Hydroplanes to connect Adriatic towns with nearby islands
Croatian Times
A German-Croatian venture is expected to introduce direct hydroplane connections between larger towns along the Adriatic coast and their neighbouring islands this summer, the daily Slobodna Dalmacija writes.
European Coastal Airlines (ECA) will connect Split and Dubrovnik with Korcula, Hvar, Vis, Lastovo and other nearby islands, while northern cities of Rijeka, Pula and Zadar will be just a ride away from Mali Losinj and Rab. Other cities and islands will follow soon after.
The head of ECA Klaus Dieter Martin said that the first planes could be up and flying as early as this summer.
Martin says that the deputy PM Domagoj Milosevic and Minister Djuro Popijac have given their support to the project seen to be “of great national significance for Croatia.”
